Pilates & Personal Training
Pilates. Bzzz Bzzz Bzzz Buzz! In the past eight years or so, Pilates has exploded in popularity. Dare I say it’s gotten trendy?
Well, I can smugly say that I was WAY ahead of the curve.
I first was introduced to Pilates in the summer of 1998, and got my first certification (with the PhysicalMind Institute) that winter. After teaching in Vermont for three years I moved to New York City and decided that I wanted a more ‘East Coast’ certification as well, so returned to study with Power Pilates, completing their program in the spring of 2002.
My style of teaching is a blend of three things: my background as a personal trainer (both AFAA and NASM certified), my original training which focused on alignment, and my work with Power Pilates which emphasized Pilates as a true workout.
I am trained in the Classical Method, but usually rely more on my personal training skills to judge your body and your mood when you walk into the studio and design a workout around the two. Each of your sessions will be different, and each of your sessions will be challenging, guaranteed. You won’t get bored, and your muscles won’t ever get a chance to become acclimatized, which means you’ll just keep getting stronger….
Live in the Berkeley area and intrigued? Reach out! I see clients in a number of East Bay area studios, and am more than happy to travel to you (with associated small pieces of equipment). Email me: willow.blish (at) gmail (dot) com.
