Pilates & Personal Training

I was introduced to Pilates in the summer of 1998, and received my first certification (with the PhysicalMind Institute) that winter.  After teaching in Vermont for three years I moved to New York City and returned to study with Power Pilates, completing their program in the spring of 2002.

My style of teaching is a blend of three things: my background as a personal trainer (both AFAA and NASM certified), my original training which focused on alignment, and my work with Power Pilates which emphasized Pilates as a true workout.  I am a voracious learner, constantly attending workshops and trainings to gather more ‘tools’ for my ‘toolbox’.  Whether you’re a desk jockey or a horse racing jockey or jockeying between painful episodes in your hip or neck, I can design a program to help you out.

I am trained in the Classical Method, but usually rely more on my personal training skills to judge your body and your mood when you walk into the studio and design a workout around the two.  Each of your sessions will be different and each of your sessions will be challenging, guaranteed.  You won’t get bored, and your muscles won’t ever get a chance to become acclimated, which means you’ll just keep getting stronger and seeing more and better changes in your body mechanics.

Live in the area and intrigued?  Reach out!  I see clients in a number of East Bay area studios, and am more than happy to travel to you (with associated small pieces of equipment).  Email me: willow.blish (at) gmail (dot) com.
