Pickup Number 12
Another hot hot (gorgeous, IMO!) day, today. After last week’s rain and the impending doom it made me feel, I’m certainly not complaining. Bring it on sister!
So as for the vegetables… It turns out that the rain was as bad for the farm as it was for my mood. Glenn lost a huge lot of tomatoes, as well as much of the remaining zucchini. You know fall is on its way when the zucchini crop dries up…
So my box today contained:
- Bunch of Kale
- 3 Cucumbers
- Eggplant
- 6 Ears Corn (Butter & Sugar)
- 4 Red Bliss Potatoes
- Bunch String Beans
- Bunch Romano Beans
- 2 Tomatoes
- Cantaloupe
- 4 Apples (3 Sheep’s Noses and 1 Honeycrisp I grabbed at the last minute)
We’re headed out of town for the long weekend, so I’m in a rush to use stuff or freeze it or bring it along for planned meals on the road. We’ll be visiting friends in the Hudson Valley and I am already getting excited to go to weekend farmers markets in Millbrook and Rhinebeck and see what sorts of fun & different things I can pickup. Stay tuned for the rundown!
