Why Simple?

by admin on February 15th, 2010

I love to source food and prepare it and serve it. I also love to eat, don’t get me wrong!  But more importantly I take pride in finding the best things at the best price from the best place and then putting it all together for a wonderful meal.

I don’t love complexity in food – either in the cooking of it (recipes that are over a page in length? C’mon!) in the serving of it (how many of us really use all those food-specific pieces of china?) or the eating of it. I like straightforward, yummy food prepared easily and quickly.  Not simplistic food, but food that is straightforward and celebrates the ingredients.

I am involved in Slow Food, but more often than not in my own cooking I trend more toward ‘fast food.’ Home cooked, generally from scratch, but fast nonetheless. Good food, prepared practically.

This blog is my way of sharing the skills that I’ve worked out in years of feeding myself, my husband and the numerous guests that have walked through our doors. It will also serve the purpose of a place for me to work through new ideas and share my process of how I do it – both the successes & failures!

Welcome. Thanks for listening. Well, uh, reading.
